Here be Dragons!

I am in the beginnings of planning out my first commission piece that involves dragons. I’m really looking forward to it, but as you can see in this image, I have a long way to go before I’ll be happy producing the final paintings.

Don’t get me wrong – this came out better than I expected. Like anything you want to improve at you first have to suck at it a bit. I’ve never really focused on details in my paintings and this is my opportunity to work in that direction while playing around with a subject I really love.

I’ve always been somewhat fearful of the fact that I’m self taught and I still have a lot to learn. I’m growing with each painting though and my confidence is growing as well. I’ve got a decent start and will make progress. More than anything else I’m looking forward to what my dragons will look like a few months from now. Expect more to come as I start my next step into expanding my painting subjects and skills!
